New York State is a direct access state where access to physical therapy services without the need for
prescription or referral from a physician or nonphysical practitioner (NPP).
However, physical therapy services shall be payable by most insurance companies only with a current prescription, referral, or pre-authorization from a physician or NPP. Be aware that most prescriptions, and all referrals and pre-authorizations have an expiration date and/or visit limit that is separate from your plan’s dollar amount or visit limit.
To determine your coverage and providership stipulations, you must contact your medical insurance company or our front staff will assist in verifying insurances.
Insurance benefits change daily so if you don’t see your insurance company on our list, please feel free to call our office and our staff will help you determine if we accept your plan.
NOTE: You are responsible for obtaining coverage information from our insurance company prior to your first visit. R.P.T. accepts all insurances, as well as private payments.
